This week Paddy McGuinness became the latest celebrity to emerge shaken from a dangerous crash while filming Top Gear.
The 46-year-old dad of three luckily came away from a terrifying crash unscathed after he lost control of the Lamborghini he was driving.
Having misjudged the corner while driving in the Yorkshire Dales, Paddy veered off-road in the lavish vehicle.
Recalling the scary moment, Paddy later spoke about his experience on social media.
He said to the camera: “It’s been a mad old day on Top Gear today, you might have seen that I had a bit of a shunt.
“I finally got to drive one of my fantasy childhood cars, the Lamborghini Diablo, but it turns out 30-year-old supercars don’t like torrential rain, who’d have thought.
The television presenter is far from the only star to have had a close call while filming the show.
Here, we take a look at some of the other crashes on Top Gear.
Richard Hammond’s Rocket Car
No list would be complete without a mention of Richard’s terrifying rocket car incident.
The former Top Gear host has had his fair share of horrifying crashes on the show, and this is certainly up there with the worst.
In September 2006, Richard was seriously injured when driving a jet-powered Vampire dragster on an airfield in York.
The vehicle – which can top speeds of 300mph – had a blow out and veered off the track and into a spin as the parachute was deployed.
Hammond was dragged from the car unconscious, and remained in intensive care following the crash.
Freddie Flintoff ‘lucky’ after near-fatal trike crash
Top Gear’s Freddie Flintoff screamed “I’m running out of runway” seconds before the former England cricketer crashed off the track.
Freddie was driving a motorised trike on the same runway where Richard had previously crashed.
The television star had topped a speed of 124mph before losing control of the vehicle.
Medics rushed over to the scene but Freddie stepped away unscathed.
At the time Freddie downplayed the severity of the incident, saying: “I’m absolutely fine and was back filming today. I go to great lengths to make sure I do well in Top Gear drag races but on this occasion I went a few lengths too far.
“It will look more ridiculous than dangerous when you see it on TV”.
Jeremy Clarkson flips an Alfa Romeo 75
Jeremy Clarkson has also had his fair share of unexpected collisions, although none as serious as co-star Richard.
During the eleventh series of Top Gear, filmed in 2008, the trio took to the race track to test out a series of Alfa Romeo’s.
Jeremy quickly crashed out of the race when he lost control and rolled his car.
Jeremy has faced several injuries while starring on Top Gear, including a slipped disc, broken thumb and a nasty-looking graze from driving a Renault Magnum Lorry.
Stig Crashes Koenigsegg
Even famed racer The Stig has crashed when starring on Top Gear.
The mystery driver, that has since been officially unveiled as three people thoughout the years, took a bio-fuel run Koenigsegg vehicle off the road during a test drive.
Travelling at about 130mph, the vehicle crashed through a tyre wall but The Stig came out unscathed.
Richard Hammond’s Rimac supercar busts into flames
Although not an official Top Gear entry, Richard Hammond’s other most serious crash deserves an honourable mention.
The former Top Gear presenter was airlifted to hospital in 2017 after a horrifying incident while filming The Grand Tour in Switzerland.
The super car veered off the track and came to a stand still in a meadow before bursting into flames.
Hammond was able to get himself out of the car but co-star Jeremy Clarkson said it was ‘the biggest crash’ he’s ever seen.
